ktc GmbH was founded in 1996. The entrepreneur and current managing director and owner Wolfgang Schiek starts in Straubenhardt-Conweiler. Mr. Schiek takes over the company with 6 employees from Mr. Krausse and with it the name ktc, which is still in use today.

With the takeover of Kelch Handhabungstechnik, now ktc Handhabungstechnik, Mr. Schiek succeeds in acquiring an innovation-driven company. More than four decades of experience form the basis of our expertise. Since 1973, several thousand magazines and handling devices have been manufactured for global machine manufacturers. Depending on the customer’s requirements, the planning, project planning, design, production, assembly, commissioning and servicing of workpiece and tool changing systems can be undertaken.

COMPANY HISTORY

We are proud of our 70-year company history. At the same time, we are looking forward to the future and continuing to develop in a global future that offers SMEs completely new opportunities.

  • 1942

    The beginnings : The foundation of Kelch Werkzeugbau in Leonberg near Stuttgart, where the foundation stone for today’s ktc Handhabungstechnik was laid.

  • 1949

    The first expansion: relocation to Schorndorf and start of production of clamping tools.

  • 1960

    The first developments: Special machine tools and assemblies for machine tools are manufactured for the first time.

  • 1973

    The era of tool changers begins: Schorndorf is the first manufacturer on the market to produce automatic tool changers.

  • 1996

    The origin of the name ktc: The owner and managing director Wolfgang Schiek takes over Präzisionstechnik Krausse in Straubenhardt, laying the foundations for today’s ktc Handhabungstechnik.

  • 2002

    Quality, quality, quality: The Schorndorf site is certified for the first time in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 and VDA 6.4. for the production of tool changers. Today, we are certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and are constantly working to further improve our high quality for our customers.

  • 2003

    Pick-up disk magazine: Development of pick-up disk magazines for horizontal centers. Presentation of the newly developed high-speed automotive change system.

  • 2005

    The foundation stone for ktc Handhabungstechnik: Wolfgang Schiek takes over Kelch Handhabungstechnik GmbH in Schorndorf. ktc Handhabungstechnik GmbH is founded, reliably continuing the tradition of Kelch Handhabungstechnik GmbH.

  • 2008

    Expansion of the portfolio: With the new development of pallet and rack systems, ktc Handhabungstechnik can offer its customers new tool changing systems. A new version of the tool changer for boring mills is also available.

  • 2011

    The group of companies continues to grow: Wolfgang Schiek takes over Staudenmaier Konstruktionen GmbH. This is followed by integration into the premises of ktc Handhabungstechnik GmbH in Schorndorf. Staudenmaier Konstruktionen GmbH specializes in the creation of designs for operating equipment, tools, devices and special machines in the automotive industry and general mechanical engineering.

  • 2011

    New markets are opened up:

    Foundation of ktc Handhabungstechnik Ltd. in Changchun/China for the distribution and manufacture of ktc Handhabungstechnik GmbH products in China

  • 2014

    New patents: Presentation of the first servo quick-change gearbox. Construction of a three-dimensional moving chain. Development of a meandering chain storage system with minimal space requirements. We are constantly on the lookout for new solutions for machine tool construction and prove this every year.

  • 2016

    Growth: The design office continues to grow and now has 10 employees
    Horizontal pick-up chain: A particularly space-saving solution for a horizontal chain as a pick-up magazine. The HSK-A63 tools are held by our tried and tested plastic clamps. The entire magazine moves horizontally into the machine in order to offer or collect the tools from the spindle. The pronounced concave chain guide is designed to allow you to plunge as far as possible into the machine.

OUR RANGE OF SERVICES

We manufacture tool changers in a variety of sizes and designs for a wide range of applications. We always take optimal cultivation conditions into account. For example, possible interfering contours, the chip area and the work area. Our portfolio includes chain and drum magazines with complete exchangeable units or as pick-up systems as well as rack and tower magazines. Of course, we also supply individual components such as gripper units, tool holders or changing units to complete existing assemblies.

We develop and manufacture special solutions for automation technology in various sectors such as automotive, medical technology, the food industry and mechanical engineering.

The development and design of devices, operating equipment, special machines, tool changing systems and tools are the specialty of our employees. An extensive modular system makes it possible to offer fast and cost-effective solutions. Individual requirements are also solved in detail and customized for the area of application. For confined spaces, short changeover times, fast handling or safe testing facilities, we use various CAD systems for development.

Machine failures cause problems for every production line. Our experienced team will deliver and install spare parts for all our machines on time. In addition to maintenance and servicing, we also carry out machine overhauls and modernizations.
